Ravi Sand

Ravi Sand is a naturally occurring fine-grained river sand extracted from the Ravi River in Punjab, Pakistan, and is widely used in the construction industry, particularly in and around Lahore. Recognized for its light-brown color and smooth texture, it is commonly utilized in brick masonry, mortar preparation, and wall plastering due to its excellent workability and ease of application. Its fine particle size allows for smooth, uniform finishes, making it an ideal choice for plastering and other finishing works. However, Ravi Sand generally contains a higher proportion of silt and clay compared to other regional river sands, which limits its suitability for heavy-duty structural concrete and reinforced cement concrete (RCC) applications. Despite this limitation, its affordability, widespread availability, and good binding properties make it a preferred material for non-structural construction and finishing projects.
