An angle grinder, commonly known as a Grinding Machine or Cutter in South Asian construction and fabrication sites, is a versatile handheld power tool designed for cutting, grinding, polishing, and surface preparation of various hard materials. It is widely used for cutting metal components such as iron rebar, MS pipes, angle iron, and metal sheets, as well as cutting marble, granite, ceramic tiles, bricks, and other masonry materials with suitable blades. Angle grinders are also used for smoothing weld joints, removing welding slag, cleaning rust and paint from metal surfaces, and preparing materials for fabrication work. Available in different disc sizes and power capacities, smaller models are ideal for general cutting and grinding tasks, while larger and higher-powered versions are suitable for heavy-duty applications. The tool can be fitted with different accessories, including abrasive cutting discs, grinding wheels, diamond blades, and wire brushes, depending on the required operation. For safe and efficient use, the protective guard should always remain installed, the disc speed rating must match the grinder’s RPM capacity, and proper two-handed handling should be maintained to ensure better control and reduce the risk of kickback.
